What a year has this been, right?!
This summer, on a long train journey, I met a guy called Dave. We got chatting about things and I learned that Dave owns a small business.

Dave's biggest problem turned out to be covering emergency shifts. Usually he would be the cover but with the business growing this has become a bigger issue.

Almost every week, one of his people will need to be somewhere urgently or will happen to be sick. This means lost appointments and consequently lost business. Dave wanted to be seen as the nice person he is and he couldn't tell people off.

I told Dave about what I do and we chatted a little about LeaveWizard.com. To cut a long story short, Dave is now a happy customer using LeaveWizard's restrictions rules and notice periods. His business runs better and grows. He is not seen as the bad guy and everyone is much happier.

This is just one of many such stories we come across every month. Are you like Dave? Hit reply and let me know. You can only make things better.

2020 versions coming soon

28/8/2019

We started the free holiday planner excel about 7 years ago with the intention of providing a consistent Excel solution to tracking leave and absence.

Year after year we continued improving the template and adding more features. From your messages I know that you appreciate the effort and many of you are very happy using the templates as they are.

After 7 years we have collected a ton of feedback and we have had to manually fix many of your files while still keeping the spreadsheet free of charge. Because we ourselves are not Excel experts (and maintaining the files does take time) we decided to team up with one this year.

The results will soon be available as the 2020 free and premium employee holiday planners. These new versions are designed with care and proficiency while continuing to provide free of charge Excel template and a feature rich premium version for those of you not ready to move your leave and absence tracking online yet.

Here’s a glimpse at what’s coming up in next year’s versions

A new beginning and a new home for your leave planner

It wasn't that long ago when we published our first Free Holiday Planner Excel blogpost and just left it out there hoping it might help a few of you. To our surprise when we looked at it a few months later  it had become a little bit popular. Or may be a lot popular - 40,000 downloads in the first 12 months surely counts as a lot in my book. "Of course, it's free" some may say but let me tell you that I know of many free products that don't get anywhere near 10% of that number.

And so we carried on.. we added new features, we started emailing subscribers to inform them that it's out but you kept asking for more and more... And so we were at a crossroads.. shall we try to support this site by adding some Ads or shall we have a Pro version.

And now we finally decided. We didn't like the ads but we had to try them. We now like them even less. So we go with our Pro version and we hope it will generate just enough to support the running of this site and the updates of the products.

This is our new website and we are very proud of it! It hosts both the free and the pro versions. We still ask for your email to get the free version but we'll also send you handy notifications when new versions are out.

The PRO version is nothing short of amazing, considering it runs in Excel and has no macros - zero, none! Yet it has some fantastic features like Bradford factor calculation and Overtime. And of course  we will always be looking to add new and useful functionality.

And so just in time for the 2017 version release we present you the new FreeHolidayPlannerExcel.com for all your holiday planning spreadsheet needs!
